How do I know whether I need a private scan, test or examination?

For access to our range of private tests, scans and examinations, you’ll need a referral from a healthcare professional. This could be your own GP, through our Private GP service or from a Consultant, Physiotherapist or Osteopath.

Once we’ve received your referral, one of our friendly and knowledgeable team members will contact you as soon as possible to arrange an appointment with the appropriate department and experts.

I have a question about private tests, scans and examinations

About our Diagnostic Imaging Department

Our Diagnostic Imaging Department is equipped with advanced technology and equipment, including digital x-ray, a wide bore Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner, a Computed Tomography (CT) scanner and Ultrasound.

The department is staffed by experts; from our Consultant Radiologists to our highly qualified team of Radiographers and administrators.

This means that whatever tests, scans or examinations you need, you can expect a safe, comfortable and discreet experience and your results delivered quickly.

What is diagnostic imaging and radiology?

Diagnostic imaging uses non-invasive scans to diagnose a wide range of problems from a broken bone to heart conditions to gastrointestinal conditions. It can also be used to monitor how your body is responding to treatment.

What private examinations are carried out in the Diagnostic Imaging Department?

We carry out the follow in our Imaging Department:

What happens during my private diagnostic imaging appointment?

When you arrive for your appointment, you’ll meet a Radiographer – an expert in diagnostic imaging. Your Radiographer will be with you throughout the process, from answering your questions beforehand to performing the scan.

Your scan can last between 15 minutes to over an hour, depending on the type of scan that you need, and which parts of your body need scanning.

How long will my results take?

We understand that waiting for the results of tests can be worrying. Our modern technology produces high quality diagnostic images which can be accessed throughout the hospital within seconds of your examination. Our highly experienced Radiologists then report the examination and will send the report back to the referring Clinician - whether that's one of our Consultants or your own GP.

Are my scan results stored safely?

We use a secure system to send and store clinical images so you can rest assured that your images are stored safely and permanently.

What happens after my scan?

If your test or scan shows that you need treatment, we’ll talk to you about next steps. We offer access to over 250 self-pay treatments and services, delivered by our expert Consultants.
